5 Staging Tips For Selling Your Home
Mar 09, 2018 // Home //

Selling your home can be a long and arduous process, particularly if you are not well-versed in how to handle every step of the process. Hiring a real estate agent is perhaps the easiest way to get the process going, they know the ins and outs of the industry after all, though you can also choose to sell it yourself without anyone in the middle.

Regardless of the specific process you choose, you will want to stage your home before people come to see it—perhaps even before you take pictures for the listing. Here are some staging tips to help make selling your home easier:

Increase Curb Appeal

The first thing people will see is your front yard. When they drive up to your home, everything out front needs to appeal to them, otherwise there is already a strike against your home. The first impression is important to help get them in the door with a good outlook on how the viewing is going to go. The appearance of your home’s front is its curb appeal. Boost this by doing good landscaping, weeding your garden, watering the lawn, et cetera.

Clear The Clutter

Just about every house has clutter in some form or another. Take time to go through your whole home and declutter wherever possible. Organize everything so it has a nice, tucked away space. Good organization and a lack of clutter will help make your home more appealing to potential buyers.

Try Neutral Tones

You might enjoy bright colours or dark tones on your walls or in other aspects of your décor, but not everyone will. Paint your walls in neutral tones instead. This does not have to be white, but can also be beige, pale yellow, et cetera. You can add pops of colour in other ways to blend with the neutral tones, such as using a few throw pillows in the living room. Just do not go overboard!

Rearrange Furniture

Your preferred furniture arrangement may not be the ideal look for a flowing space. Consider the layout of everything in your home and try rearranging the furniture so it looks visually appealing. The visitors may not see the function of certain arrangements, which is why visual appeal is more important at this point in the apartment staging game.

Rooms With A Purpose

Are there any rooms in your home you have basically relegated to just storing everything you do not want to look at? These cannot exist when you are selling your home, as it can introduce too much disorganization and clutter to those viewing your space. Instead, try converting the room so it has a purpose as much as possible. For instance, you can create a guest room or an office. If necessary, you can have one storage room, but make sure you organize it well and get rid of clutter.
