3 Tips For Decluttering Your Home
Apr 27, 2018 // Home //

We collect stuff over time. We also rarely throw things away and when we do, these things are often well past the time when we should have thrown them out in the first place. Decluttering is an amazing way to really get down to what you do make use of, create space for new things in your life, and even clear your mind on a stressful day! Here are three tips for decluttering your home to get you started:

Take Your Time

You don’t have to declutter your home in one day. You can break it up! In fact, we recommend you do this because decluttering can be an emotional process, especially if it’s more than just declutter a single closet or drawer. We suggest roughly one week for an entire room. Break the room into seven sections you would complete each  day—and limit yourself to complete one section each day, even if you can do more.

Be Ruthless

When you are decluttering, you will need to be ruthless. You are not going to want to get rid of or donate a lot of your stuff, even if it really isn’t doing you much good. Really force yourself to think about what is necessary, sentimental, and what is simply taking up space. You will only be successful with a complete decluttering if you get rid of a lot of stuff!

Designate Spaces

A great way to help limit what you keep is to designate certain spaces for things. For instance, if you have four drawers in your dresser, you can designate what does in each and then once that drawer is full, you cannot keep anymore of that particular item, unless you give away something from the drawer and make space for it! Do this with your clothes, makeup, storage closet, pantry items, et cetera. You might be surprised at how much you can clear out this way.
